Lepidolite is a lilac-gray or rose-colored member of the mica group. It is a secondary source of lithium. It is associated with other lithium-bearing minerals. It is one of the major sources of the rare alkali metals rubidium and caesium.
It occurs in granite pegmatities, in some quartz veins and granites. Some of the popular associated minerals are quartz, feldspar, tourmaline, topaz and beryl. Places of occurrence are Brazil, Ural Mountains, California, Canada and Madagascar.
